Credit: “Breaking News”, OER Project, www.oerproject.com/PurposeDespite its name, the Cold War had its fair share of hot spots. To further understand the role of competing ideologies in these conflicts, choose one event and write a short “breaking news” story about it from the perspective of an American supporter, Soviet supporter, or unaligned individual.Process1.Choose a Cold War event you’ve learned about and write it below.2.Choose your perspective. Will you write from the point of view of an American supporter (pro-capitalism), a Soviet supporter (pro-communism), or an unaligned person?3.Generate a compelling headline for your story. Be sure to capture that “breaking news” feel!4.Write a short news story (150 to 200 words) about the event you chose. Include a brief summaryof what happened. Be sure to consider how Cold War ideologies (capitalism vs. communism) influenced the actions of people involved in and responding to the event. Remember to write in a tone that reflects the point of view you chose.
