Unit 2 Writing Wrap Up

Teacher Resources

Unit Problem: What caused some humans to shift from foraging to farming and what were the effects of this change?

In this lesson, you’ll examine the claim and focus category of the WHP Writing Rubric. You will review the rubric, identify claim and focus in a sample essay, complete a writing assessment, and use writing samples to better evaluate your own writing. Completing a series of rubric-based writing activities will give you a solid grasp on how your teacher will assess your writing.

  1. Assess how farming changed the lives and wellbeing of early humans.
  2. Learn how to identify and revise claim and focus in historical writing.
  3. Create and support arguments using historical evidence to evaluate if farming was an improvement over foraging.
