By 1914, the tensions surrounding many of those transformations would send the world to war. In this mapping exercise, you’ll identify some of the participants in the First World War, and then use what you’ve learned so far to make a few predictions about this conflict.Process1.Think back to what you’ve learned about imperialism, colonialism, and responses to colonialism. What were some of the most important transformations of the long nineteenth century?2.Now, make some guesses about how these changes might have led the world to war in 1914. Be prepared to share your ideas with the class.3.Explore the 1914 CE Political Map, and make sure you can find the following countries on the it. This list represents just a sampling of countries that were involved in the war in some way.•Ottoman Empire•United Kingdom•Austria-Hungary•Germany•France•Switzerland
