Credit: “Build Your Own Frame,” OER Project, https://www.oerproject.com/1PurposeDesigning a new course frame and deciding how you would use it to tell the history of the world will reinforce the concept that all historical narratives are presented through a particular lens. It will also give you an opportunity to think about the history of the world from theperspective or topic that is most interesting to you.Key information: Thethree course frames (communities, networks, and production and distribution) structure the narrative of this course. Now, it’s time for you to create a new frame of your choosing and tell the history of the world throughthat frame. For example, you may want to talk about the history of the world from the perspective of sports. Or maybe from the perspective of food...or music...or art... or any otherframe of your own design.Process1.Begin by choosing your new frame and defining what it is in one sentence.Frame:Defini6on:2.Why did you choose this frame? Why do you think it is significant or useful?
OER PROJECT: WH/ LESSON 9.8ACTIVITYBUILD YOUR OWN FRAME23.Write your frame narrative in one short statement. Revisitthe frame intro videosfor inspiration. (Example: “Over time, human communities have generally grown andfrequently changed.”)4.Now, extend your frame narrative by highlighting how it changed across three important time periods in history, supporting your claims with evidence. Focus on explaining the big changes of each period through your chosen frame. Frame narra(veEvidenceBefore the Columbian Exchange (pre-1492)
