Zoom In, Zoom Out: Contextualization in History

Contextualization sounds simple—until students actually have to do it. Focus your teaching moves to make student thinking more visible. In this workshop, you’ll zoom in on one teacher’s classroom approach and zoom out with OER Project’s toolkit for teaching contextualization in world history. You’ll work with teaching guides, scaffolded activities, student tools, and feedback forms you can use all year long to help students place sources, events, and people in context—and bring clarity to a skill that’s more complex than it first appears.
